About the Event
Chanting the Vedic Mantras is an important practice in many yogic traditions. As the sacred mantras permeate our whole being, we feel nourished, restored and strengthened to face life's challenges with love, clarity and courage.
During this weekend retreat, you will learn to chant some of the most often used vedic mantras, and to play them on harmonium (and any instrument of your choice; bring your own!), whether you're chanting by yourself or if you're inteding to share them with a group. There'll also be in depth discussion on their meaning and most powerful ways of practicing.
You will be immersed in the art of kirtan and group music making as well as developing your own individual instrumental/vocal/leading skills. Bring your own instrument or share ours. Easy to read music will be provided. The weekend will culminate in a Sunday morning ‘concert’ where we will bring together everything that has been learned and shared during the weekend.
All of this takes place in the beautiful and supportive environment of Atma Darshan Yoga Center in Western Creek, Tasmania. Each day begins with an early morning yoga class, including relaxation, postures and breathing techniques to support, strengthen and open the voice. The food will be nourishing, fresh and vegetarian.
