About the Event
Bring your voices and instruments to welcome the new year with kirtan, mantra & dance.
Come together for a magical musical retreat with Sangita. In the tradition of Bhakti & Nada yoga, let the transformative qualities of sound & mantra open your heart to welcome in the new year.
Sessions will include material from Sangita’s Songbooks, Vedic mantra chanting, Dances of Universal Peace, voice & breath work. User-friendly handouts of all the music will be provided. You will also be introduced to the belleplates, a 3-octave set of hand held instruments, which provide a beautiful accompaniment for mantra chanting and kirtan. They are easy to play, and enchanting to listen to.
In particular, the retreat will be centered around learning the art of Kirtan and group music making.
There will be plenty of time to:
- Develop skills on your instrument - harmonium, guitar, percussion, voice, or other
- Develop confidence leading and presenting kirtan
- Be immersed in quality group music making
- To allow your innate musical knowledge, creativity and understanding to unfold
Bring your own instrument/s or share ours. And if you would just like to soak up the music and enjoy the program without taxing yourself to learn any particular skill or instrument, you are also welcome!
Suitable for beginners, experienced musicians & everyone in between.
All of this takes place in the beautiful and supportive environment of Atma Darshan Yoga Center in Western Creek, Tasmania. Each day begins with an early morning yoga class including relaxation, postures and breathing techniques to support, strengthen and open the voice. The food will be nourishing, fresh and vegetarian.

What participants say:
I have tried several times to learn the harmonium to play my own kirtans, and it was not easy. Now with Sangita’s system it is easy and I can say “I can do it”. Thanks Sangita.
